Here is a small sample of some of my favorite shots from the second half our our Street Photography class.
Washington DC
Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington, DC
The Annual Cherry Blossom Festival is upon us once again, and peak flower bloom was this past weekend. I had to get to the Tidal Basin quite early in order to find a good place to set up. Despite being quite crowded, all the photographers were quite helpful and offered suggestions for great shots.
Walk for Tibet, Washington, DC to New York City
Last month, I had the pleasure of covering a very special event. Kunga Norbu, the nephew of The Dalai Lama, set out on a walk from Washington, DC to New York City. The beginning of the journey started with a protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in northern DC and then the group walked 6 miles south to the White House for the rest of the protest. From there, Kunga and a few fellow walkers set out on their 10 day walk to New York City. I was fortunate to take part in the walk in Washington and on their final day in New York as they approached the UN Building. These are some of the photos I took on those 2 days.
Industry Assignment
I recently had to shoot an assignment that represented the "Evidence of Man," in the style of Edward Burtynsky. I chose to shoot in and around a scrap yard and concrete factory in the south side of DC. You never know how people will respond to a request to photograph on their property, but these guys were very gracious and welcoming. They took me on a tour which gave me access to much better shooting angles. I was quite pleased with the results.
